October Gecko Galz

Hello crafty friends and followers!

Let me start by extending a very warm welcome to Michele Henderson and Darcy Schroeder, my two newest followers. I'm really happy that you could join me!

Today I'm showing my (last-minute) October projects for the Gecko Galz Facebook challenges.

Before I show my projects, let me tell you all - the Gecko Galz have a Blog Hop at the moment! It's a must-see event!

There are 16 blogs to visit and EACH blog has a FREE collage sheet for you to download. Very generous and  extremely handy if you wish to take part in their challenges, as each project must contain at least one image from Gecko Galz.

Anyhow... on to my projects.

#1 First, I made a shaker frame using Cottage Cutz Stitched Rectangle dies. This is for the Button or Bows Challenge.

The image used is one of my favourite quotes and comes a poem written by Australian poet, Erin Hanson. It is one of the many beautiful quotes on the Gecko Galz collage sheet called Beautiful Words  -  :(  I can't find this in the Etsy shop, so maybe it is a retired sheet.

I mounted the image onto brown glitter paper, added gold sequins and then placed foam pads around the edge on which the acetate would rest followed by the top frame.
The ribbon and button were added to the corner for decoration.

#2 Next I made a Halloween Invitation card:

I used a black background and added elements from the Witches collage sheet and the spiders web from the subscribers free October collage sheet. I stamped a 'You're Invited' sentiment and added the date with gold stickers on an inked background. Some ink-dyed gauze was tucked beneath the main image for a bit of spookiness.

#3 Lastly, I made a very quick and simple card for the  brown and gold challenge.

I used a Little Claire Designs scalloped square kraft card for the base. It is quite small, measuring just 4 inches square. Gold adhesive glitter paper was stuck on top, leaving a kraft border showing. On top of the gold I added a brown glitter paper square with rounded corners. It is slightly offset to the right side, leaving room for the brown decorated border on the left hand side.
The image is from the Gecko Galz's  Fall into Nature collage sheet. It had its corners rounded and its edges inked, and was attached on foam pads to give a little dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 6

Hello!

First of all, let me warmly welcome Fiki who has kindly become a new follower. It's lovely to have you here!

It's the final day, Day 6, of the Cat Lover's Blog Hop at Janis's blog, Her Peaceful Garden

It has been a wonderful event! I have thoroughly enjoyed visiting everyone's blogs, seeing their kitty projects and I have learned such a lot!

Thank you Janis for organising this!
It must have been a mammoth task, but I do hope you'll do it all over again next year!

Janis has many fabulous sponsors for the hop, and a daily digi to play for.
I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

Happy National Cat Day to all in the USA!

Here is my project. I made a simple easel card.
The image was one I coloured a while back and entered into an ATC challenge (that post is here). It wasn't a swap, so I decided to make a card with it.

The image is from Aurora Wings and is called 'Cat in Flowers'. It is part of the Animal Whimsy Collection. It was coloured with Spectrum Noir pens. It was mounted onto black card and then onto yellow card, then attached to the black background paper.
The flowers were made with white card and a Heartfelt Creations die set called Majestic Blooms. The die cut card was colour washed with ink and water, then the petals were shaped. Once dry, the petals were assembled and a pearl centre placed in each. They were added at the side of the image along with some die cut, inked foliage.
A ribbon was tied around the bottom of the card.

The Happy Birthday sentiment was die cut 3 times from white, black and yellow card. The die-cuts were glued together, but slightly offset to give a shadow effect. This was then glued on to a Spellbinders Label Twenty which is attached to the card on foam pads, so that it acts as the stopper for the easel.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 5

Hello!

It's still Day 5 of the Cat Lover's Blog Hop at Janis's blog, Her Peaceful Garden

Thank you Janis for organising this!

Janis has many fabulous sponsors for the hop, and a daily digi to play for.
I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

Here is another Dinkie card made with Little Claire Designs products.

I used a Mini Scallop Card (although mine is in Kraft card and I couldn't find these in their online shop today), Mini Splodge Paper  and a LCD Dinkie stamp called Butterfly Cat.
I coloured the image with Spectrum Noir markers, then die cut it using a Stitched Rectangle die from Cottage Cutz (I had to shorten the rectangle as it was a bit too long). The image was matted onto black card for some definition, as was the background paper. I tied baker's twine around the mats before adhering them to the card base and finally I added a pink polkadot button.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cat Lovers Blog Hop: Day 5

Hello!

It's Day 5 of the Cat Lover's Blog Hop at Janis's blog, Her Peaceful Garden

I am loving visiting everyone's blogs, seeing their creativity and leaving comments, BUT ... I couldn't do this every week! My housework has been seriously neglected this week; in fact, I've only just about fit real, paid work into the spare time I have between visiting blogs!!

Thank you Janis for organising this!

Janis has many fabulous sponsors for the hop, and a daily digi to play for.
I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

Here is a quick card I made this morning:

I used Little Claire Designs products - they are called Dinkies since they're so small; Mini Scallop CardsMini Splodge Paper with the corners rounded and a LCD silhouette outline sticker
I raised the image upon foam pads for a bit of dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 4

Hello!

It's Day 4 of the Cat Lover's Blog Hop at Janis's blog, Her Peaceful Garden

I have to say that I'm really, really enjoying the hop!  There are so many talented cat lovers telling their kitty stories, sharing their ideas and creating wonderful projects for the link ups.

Thank you Janis for organising this!

Janis has many fabulous sponsors for the hop, and a daily digi to play for.
I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

Here is my project for today:

Trimcraft glitter card has been used for the background and die cuts.
Cheery Lynn Pierced Banners and an unknown Hearts/Circle die set was used.
The image is from Polkadoodles and is called Cats/Kittens. I coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut it, then mounted it on foam pads.
The little ginger cat charm has been in my craft stash box for decades, so I finally found a home for him!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 3

Hello!

Before I start, I'd like to say a special hello to Tee who is my latest follower. Thank you so much for joining me!

It's Day 3 of the Cat Lover's Blog Hop at Janis's blog, Her Peaceful Garden.

Janis has been super-busy organising this event and has many fabulous sponsors, and a daily digi to play for.
I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

I'm trying to link up a project each day in the Cat Lovers Blog Hop.
I've worked today and so haven't had too much time for play :( and I'm late in publishing this post.

Anyhow...
Here is what I made:

I used a free digi from Angelique. I coloured the kittens then fussy cut them. I die cut the background paper and used one of the trees as a 3D element, inking it's edges and raising it on foam pads. Crystal snow from Inkilicious was added to the 'ground' and tree. Two holographic snow sequins were added.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 2

Hello!

It's Day 2 of the Cat Lover's Blog Hop at Janis's blog, Her Peaceful Garden.

Janis has been super-busy organising this event and has many fabulous sponsors, and a daily digi to play for.
I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

I made a card with the lovely Kat digi stamp from the whimsical world of Vera Lane Studios. The flowers are from a different set called May.

I die cut the card base from Kraft card, then die cut the background paper. The images were coloured with Spectrum Noir markers, then fussy cut. Kat and the flowers on the right were mounted on foam pads to give some dimension. I didn't include a sentiment so that the card can be used as an everyday card.

Here is the inside of the card with a Matisse quote (which is included in the digi set).

Thanks for stopping by today!

Halloween: {Pin}spirational Challenge #177

Hello

Today I'm sharing my DT post for the new challenge which starts today at

Each challenge runs for two weeks and has a photo to spark your inspiration.
There are just a few rules and these can be found on the sidebar of the {PIN}spirational blog.
Any project is welcome as long as it is inspired by the photo. You can enter 5 different projects in each challenge.

Here is the photo for the current challenge #177 which runs until 7th November:

Beautiful image - the kitty looks a lot like my cat, Casey!

The sponsor for this challenge is the fantastic Digital Delights. Please pop by their store and have a look at the brilliant selection of stamps, clip art, papers and cutting files.

The DT were offered a selection of digital stamps to work with. I couldn't choose just one, so I made 3 cards. Here they are:

The background for all 3 cards is the same. I found the paper online and printed it out. Once it was cut to size, I inked the edges in Ranger black archival ink, then I heat embossed it in WOW clear embossing powder to give it some shine. Each piece was matted onto black card ready to be adhered to the card base.

The card bases are from Little Claire designs (LC Designs). The scalloped square kraft cards are 9cm square and the shaped rectangle white card is 13cm x 8cm.

The images were coloured with Spectrum Noir markers. Each image was fussy cut to leave a thin white border, then mounted onto black card and fussy cut again. Lastly the images were stuck onto the background with foam pads.

Card 1

The image is called Kandi Kid Bat Cat
Here is a close up:

Card 2

The image is called Helga Frightner
Here is a close up:

Card 3

The image is called Spellifying Witch.
Here is a close up:

That's all from me today.  I hope you'll pop over to
to check out the gorgeous designs by the rest of the DT.

We would love for you to take part in the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Cat Lovers Hop: Day 1

Hello!

A big warm welcome to my latest follower, Doreen. I'm so glad you could join me!

The Cat Lover's Blog Hop starts today over at Her Peaceful Garden

Janis has been super-busy organising the event and has many fabulous sponsors. I hope you'll come on over and take a look and maybe even play along!

I've loved looking and commenting upon all the projects submitted so far, but I have to say my kitty stash is pretty limited.

However, I had a rummage around ( let's hope Janis doesn't want a photo of our craft room or workspace next!!!) and this is what I found:

Sorry the photo is poor quality, but it was the best I could get as we're out of daylight hours here in the UK and I had to use flash.

Considering that I love cats, this is a pretty poor show! It includes some old stickers and rub-ons as well as stamps. In my defense, your honour, I do have a few digital stamps, too.

Anyhow, after finding these, it has given me a couple of ideas for projects I could make to link up and join in with the fun. Mmmm .... I see what you did there, Janis - subtle, but very clever! :-)

That's all for now.

No project today, but hopefully I'll have one for tomorrow!

Hope to see you on the hop!
xoxo

Spooky

Hello!

Today at the Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group we had a virtual Halloween card making party.

Here is what I made:

I used a gelli plate, acrylic paint and stencils to make the background, then doodled with black and white pens and added some Stickles glitter and washi tape. The images were coloured with alcohol markers and fussy cut. The pumpkin has glossy accent eyes and the zombie fairy has glitter wings and wand. The sentiment was computer generated and printed.

Thanks for stopping by today!
